Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle
In the morning, you head out for coffee, spend the afternoon wandering the city, and in the evening, you still have time for a drink on the terrace. All the while, you're wearing the women's slippers Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle in black. This classic two-strap model features significantly enlarged metal buckles that add a confident, slightly rock-inspired touch to even the simplest outfit. Slip them on, and you'll immediately understand why people keep coming back to them for years.
The upper is made from oiled nubuck leather, which has a soft matte finish and develops a unique patina with wear. Underfoot, you have a contoured cork-latex insole. It gradually adapts to your foot and supports your arch. The EVA midsole cushions every step, while the rubber outsole provides reliable grip on both pavement and smooth surfaces. This model has a narrower insole width, making it ideal for slimmer feet, and you can adjust both straps with the buckles to fit you perfectly. The black Arizona pairs well with loose pants, a midi skirt, or denim shorts. Birkenstock is a German brand with a family tradition of shoemaking that dates back to the 18th century, renowned for its anatomically shaped insoles.
Birkenstock Arizona
The Most Iconic Sandals in the World - Birkenstock Arizona
Before it became a sandal worn in parks and shopping centers worldwide, Karl Birkenstock first tested it on his own employees. Birkenstock Arizona is now the best-selling and most recognizable model of the brand, a silhouette with two straps that has become synonymous with comfort itself. It was only the third model ever introduced by Birkenstock, yet it ultimately overshadowed all its predecessors and successors. Over fifty years since its inception, it remains virtually unchanged – because there has never been a reason to change anything.
History: The Third Model That Outshone All Others
Karl Birkenstock developed the two-strap Arizona silhouette between 1971 and 1972, launching it to the market in 1973. It was only the third model in the brand's history, following Madrid (1963) and Zurich (1964) – yet Arizona became the one that most distinctly defined Birkenstock to the outside world. Karl Birkenstock tested the first prototypes directly on his employees before the model hit the shelves. Since then, the design has remained practically unchanged, making Arizona one of the most enduring and successful designs in footwear history.
Technology: Contoured Cork-Latex Footbed and EVA Sole
What makes Arizona comfortable from the very first moment of wearing and even more comfortable after breaking in are these elements:
- Contoured Cork-Latex Footbed: Cork and latex gradually mold to the shape of your foot, creating a unique, custom-fit support – ideal for those recovering from plantar fasciitis or looking to prevent it.
- Suede-Lined Footbed with Foam Layer (Soft Footbed Version): The added foam layer significantly shortens the typical break-in period of Birkenstocks – the sandal is comfortable practically right out of the box.
- EVA Sole: An extremely lightweight, flexible material that absorbs shocks, is water-resistant, and gentle on the skin – in the EVA version, it forms the entire structure of the sandal.
Design
Two adjustable buckles allow you to fine-tune the width of the sandal to the shape of your foot – a simple yet functional detail that makes Arizona fit a wide range of foot types better than many other sandals on the market.
Who This Model Is For
Arizona is a lifestyle silhouette for you if you're looking for the most comfortable and versatile sandal on the market for warm months – perfect for everyday wear, travel, and summer vacations, with arch support that you'll appreciate even during long periods of standing.

Savršene!
Are you a fan of tried-and-tested silhouettes and perfect workmanship? Then keep an eye out, because few brands on Footshop date their roots back to the 18th century. For almost 200 years, Germany's Birkenstock was an orthopaedic shoe brand, but it wasn't until the 1960s that it became a global phenomenon, when American Margot Fraiser became so enamored with the comfort of these shoes that she decided to expand production to include San Francisco. The open toed shoe with a cork sole quickly became highly sought after and success was not long in coming. Give in to the benefits of slippers and sandals and treat your feet to a piece from our range!
