Salomon Acs Pro Gtx

Motorcycle Aesthetics in a Trail Shoe Designed by a Racer's Son - Salomon ACS Pro

Metal eyelets inspired by motorcycle gas tanks and an upper construction resembling ribcage – this is the shoe designed by someone who grew up in a motorcycle racing family. Salomon ACS Pro is one of the most distinctive archival silhouettes of the brand, merging an aggressive technical look from the early 2000s with a design story worthy of its own legend. Over twenty years, it has become a cult favorite among hikers, collectors, and fashion enthusiasts. Today's version stays true to the original vision, although it has undergone modernization in materials and construction.

History: Legacy of Collaboration with adidas and Motorcycle Inspiration

The roots of this silhouette trace back to 2005, when the original model GCS Pro (Ground Control System) was created by designer Christian Tresser during Salomon's collaboration with adidas, which lasted from 1997 to 2005. Tresser drew inspiration from motorcycle gas tanks for the metal eyelets on the laces and from ribcage construction for the breathable midsection of the shoe – an influence that can be traced back to his father, a motorcycle racer. Thanks to its technical DNA, the shoe earned the Backpacker Editor's Choice award as early as 2005.

In 2022, the silhouette was revived as ACS Pro Advanced – lifestyle sneakers that retained the technical roots of the original while adding more modern design elements. Over two decades, the shoe has built an eclectic community of hikers, collectors, designers, and style lovers, united by their admiration for technical innovation and instantly recognizable aesthetics. For its 20th anniversary, Salomon even revived an unreleased sample from 2005 with aged gold leather overlays and translucent side panels.

Technology: Agile Chassis System, SensiFit, and Contagrip

What makes the ACS Pro technically exceptional even after twenty years are these elements:

• Agile Chassis System (AC Skeleton, AC Muscle 2, AC Tendon): A trio of elements designed for foot impact control, cushioning, and energy return, working with the EnergyCell midsole for stability on uneven surfaces.
• SensiFit: A construction that wraps around the foot from the midsole to the laces, ensuring a snug and customized fit.
• Contagrip Outsole: A highly adhesive rubber compound providing solid grip in wet and dry conditions.
• Anti-debris Mesh and Quicklace Pocket: A mesh that blocks dirt entry and a compartment for storing the Quicklace system.

Design and Materials

The upper combines breathable mesh near the foot for maximum feel with reinforced synthetic overlays for durability – a combination that still makes the ACS Pro one of the most visually aggressive silhouettes in Salomon's lineup.

Who This Model Is For

The ACS Pro is a fashion silhouette for you if you're looking for a distinctive technical shoe with a truly unique design story – ideal for collectors of archival silhouettes and lovers of aggressive, technically-oriented aesthetics from the early 2000s.
