Haglöfs Fram 1l

Haglöfs: Swedish Outdoor Minimalism with Over a Century of History

The brand Haglöfs is among the most respected manufacturers of premium outdoor clothing, footwear, and gear worldwide. Its story began in 1914 in a small Swedish village, Torsång, when founder Wiktor Haglöf crafted his first backpack for local lumberjacks and farmers. From its humble beginnings, the company has evolved into a global leader in innovation, sustainability, and technical design, while maintaining its original philosophy: to produce reliable and durable gear that withstands the harshest Nordic conditions.

History and Evolution of the Brand

• 1914 (Foundation): Wiktor Haglöf sews the first backpacks in the family barn. His goal was to ease the work of those spending all day outdoors in challenging weather.

• 1930–1950 (Growth): The company builds its own factory and expands its product range. Haglöfs backpacks become popular among hikers, the military, and foresters across Sweden.

• 1980–1990 (Modernization): Haglöfs transforms its offering from specialized gear to a modern outdoor sports brand, introducing the first technical jackets and modular backpacks.

• 2000–Present: The brand becomes a pioneer in ecological sustainability in textiles (introducing bluesign® certifications and recycled materials) and expands into international markets.
