Nike is reviving the golden era of its running shoes, and to celebrate the holiday of all sneakerheads, which is no other day than Air Max Day, it has unveiled the Nike Air Max Pre-Day silhouette.
The sneaker gets you going with its eye-catching aesthetic combining the '70s and the 2020's, bringing several generations of innovation together. The simple design and colorways reference back to the Daybreak silhouette and the glorious running shoe era of the '70s, while the use of materials to make this sneaker reference to the 21st century. Upper

Innovation and Nike Air
Nike gained legendary status with its innovative Air technology. The first Nike shoes featuring the revolutionary air bubble hit the market in 1987, and they’re still etched in the minds of sneaker enthusiasts—these were the Nike Air Max 1. The designer behind the original Nike Air Sole line was Tinker Hatfield, a true icon in sneaker culture, who paved the way for a wide range of Nike Air Max models.
It would take ages to list all the Nike Air Max silhouettes that have been released over the years, but some of the most iconic include the Nike Air Max 1, 90, 95, 97, and 98. Newer models like the Nike Air Max Plus, 270, and 720 continue the legacy of innovation.
Nike History
The company we know today as Nike was originally founded as Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964. Nike sneakers didn’t debut under their current name until 1971, when the now-legendary Swoosh logo was introduced. Designed by University of Portland student Carolyn Davidson, the logo came with a modest payment of $2 an hour for her labor (equivalent to about seven times that in today’s money).
More Than Just Air Max
While Nike is synonymous with the Air Max line, the brand also offers a range of other footwear options. Nike Skateboarding (SB) has been a favorite among skateboarders, and basketball players have long relied on Nike footwear. Notably, the Nike Blazer has remained a popular choice for basketball enthusiasts. In 1984, Nike launched the Air Jordan brand, initially designed for basketball legend Michael Jordan. Though the shoes were initially exclusive to him, they quickly became available to the public and became one of the most coveted sneaker lines in history.
