Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi
The high silhouette that defined the history of sneakers and streetwear - Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi
The Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi first appeared in 1985, introducing something to the NBA that had never been seen before - a bold design, color combinations and high cut that immediately attracted attention. Designed by Peter Moore, they quickly became a symbol of rebelliousness, especially after the NBA banned the famous "Bred" colorway. Michael Jordan made them famous on the court, but they were also worn by players like Ralph Sampson, Patrick Ewing and later Rasheed Wallace, who played in the AJ1 Hi in the modern NBA era.
But their popularity has skyrocketed off the basketball court. They found their place in the skate community, hip-hop and pop culture, where they were worn by artists, musicians and fashion icons. With its simple, perfectly balanced and timeless construction, the AJ1 Hi has become a lifestyle legend that has survived four decades of trends. Every generation has found its own way to wear them - from classic OG colorways to limited collaborations that have taken the model to the level of fashion artifact.
Today, the Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi pairs well with looser trousers, denim, cargo cuts and sporty outfits. As a statement sneaker, it also works great in minimalist combinations where you let their iconic silhouette stand out. If you're looking for a shoe with history, character, and immortal style, the AJ1 Hi is exactly the model that belongs in every serious sneaker rotation.
Materials
Leather: It is a natural material known for its durability, flexibility and ability to adapt to the shape of the foot, ensuring unparalleled comfort and durability.
Air Sole: Legendary cushioning element, a capsule filled with compressed air placed in the heel or toe of the shoe. It compresses on impact, absorbing shock and reducing stress on the joints. This increases comfort, energy return and durability of the shoe and has fundamentally influenced the development of modern sneakers.
Rubber: The rubber outsole provides excellent grip and durability on a variety of surfaces. Thanks to its elasticity, it absorbs shock, increasing comfort when walking or running.
Details
In the history of sneakers, there is perhaps no more successful collaboration between a sneaker brand and an athlete than in the case of Michael Jordan and Nike. From the union of these two concepts came a legend in the form of Air Jordan in 1984. These sneakers were initially worn exclusively by the legendary thirty-three, however, within a few months of their introduction, Jordans were also in the hands of the public.
The legend in the form of the Air Jordan 1
The Air Jordan 1, which Michael first put on more than thirty years ago, is now one of the most popular silhouettes among sneakerheads. But the beginnings weren't exactly easy. In 1985, the most famous basketball player in history was banned from wearing Jordan 1 shoes because they didn't meet the prescribed game dress code, according to the NBA . To make matters worse, he would have to pay a $5,000 fine for every game he wore them.
This, of course, wouldn't be the seasoned Nike, which had a proper respect for its workhorse. Rather than risk the recall of this Jordan sneaker, it was decided that the company would rather cash in any such fine to Michael just so he could wear the J's as they were. The pinnacle of healthy audacity was an ad for just the Air Jordan 1 shoe called "banned." It featured, among other things, the legendary line, "The NBA threw them (Air Jordan 1) out of the game. Unfortunately the NBA can't stop YOU from wearing them".
New era, new Jordans
Time moved on, and as the years passed, so did more Jordan shoes. After the legendary 1s came the 2s, then the 3s, and by 2000 the number of new silhouettes had climbed to 15. Today, there are many more, and more models are still being added. However, even though these are far from being some worthless pieces, the glory of their first retro models is hardly matched by the new Jordan shoes aka Jordans .
Nike Jordan shoes have already entered their fourth decade of existence. Unlike a lot of other brands, Jordan sneakers have never strayed from their pre-marked path, that is to produce basketball sneakers for top athletes. But from the street basketball courts and gym floors, Air Jordan shoes have moved in a big way to the city streets as well. Among other things, the popularity among fashion and sneaker fans is also due to their popularity among the world's music stars, who do not hesitate to wear Jordan sneakers to concerts, fashion events and the most prestigious music awards.
