Founded in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) creates its own collections inspired by the original Carhartt workwear. The brand blends authentic adaptations of rugged American workwear with influences from subcultures that have embraced its style, placing Carhartt WIP in a fresh context while introducing its own timeless classics.
Since the late 1980s, countercultures worldwide have reinterpreted Carhartt’s durable workwear, making it their own. With a growing network and strong foundation, Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and began engaging with cultural spheres beyond its own industry. This expansion led to the creation of a skate team, a music department, and support for various artists, along with the release of several publications.
Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has collaborated with like-minded brands such as A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike, and Vetements, as well as music legends like Fela Kuti, Underground Resistance, and Vestax.
