The Carhartt WIP Whitsome Shirt Jacket in Black is a versatile piece that blurs the line between shirt and jacket, making it a solid choice for layering or standalone wear. Crafted from 9.2 oz eight wale cotton corduroy, it offers a midweight feel with pronounced ridges, delivering both texture and durability. The garment-washed finish ensures a soft touch and helps maintain its shape over time.
Inside, the jacket features a nylon taffeta lining with vertical quilting, providing insulation without adding bulk. The front secures with a button closure, leading up to a classic pointed collar. Functionality is key, with two large chest pockets with flap and button closures—one adorned with Carhartt's woven Square Label—and two additional welt pockets at the waist for extra storage.
Designed with a loose fit, this jacket allows for comfortable layering over hoodies or tees, adapting to various styles and occasions. Whether you're navigating city streets or heading out for a casual meet-up, the Whitsome Shirt Jacket combines practicality with a clean, understated aesthetic.
Founded in 1994 by Edwin Faehe, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops custom collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of rugged American archetypes and collaborates with the subcultures that surrounded it. On the other hand, Carhartt WIP also managed to get into new contexts and bring its own classics. From the late 1980s onwards, countercultures around the world adopted the rugged spirit of Carhartt originals workwear and created their own style. With a growing network and a strong base, Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and began to engage in cultural spheres outside its own industry. As a result, the brand established its own skate team and music department, while supporting a number of artists and publishing various publications.
Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has collaborated with a number of like-minded brands including A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike and Vetements, as well as working with music icons such as Fela Kuti, Underground Resistance and Vestax.
